Liberia’s Senior Doctor Dies Due To Ebola, The Deadly Virus

According to the reports of a health official, a senior doctor, who worked at Liberia’s largest hospital, has passed away due to Ebola, the deadly virus that killed a Liberian man a few days earlier in Nigeria.

Tolbert Nyenswah, assistant heath minister, stated that Dr. Samuel Brisbane passed away on Saturday at an Ebola treatment center, which is located on the outskirts of the capital, Monrovia.

World Health Organization (WHO) states that this deadly virus has, till date, killed 129 people in the country. Brisbane is the first Liberian doctor who died out of Ebola outbreak.

WHO also states that the outbreak, which is the largest ever recorded one, has also lead to the deaths of 319 people in Guinea and around 224 people in Sierra Leone.

The disease spreads through contact with fluids of the body and thus, health workers are at dangerous risks of contracting the disease.

The top Ebola doctor of Sierra Leone fell seriously ill with the disease last week. According to Samaritan’s Purse, the aid group, an American doctor working in Liberia was also sick with the same disease, as reported on Saturday this week.
