Breast Cancer myths and beliefs have yet not slowed down

The battle against breast cancer is yet going strong and hundreds of  women are struggling to survive in the United States.  A recent report from the National Cancer Institute have reported about 232,670 new cases of breast cancer in females and about 2,360 new cases in males, in the current year.

There are plenty of precautions and tips to prevent Breast Cancer on the internet. However, not all information is true and factual. A survey was conducted, where many patients suffering from breast cancer were asked a few questions, and to the surprise of the research team, they explained the same myths they read on the internet about this disease.

One of the patients named – Sara West gave her comments about this illness; “If the lump is not sore. If you feel the lump and it’s not sore, it’s not cancer. That’s not so. That’s one of the myths I’ve heard.”  There are many more myths such as a lump in your breast may be related to breast cancer symptoms, Breast Cancer is a contagious disease, Deodorants causes Breast Cancer and many more.

The health experts have suggested to not to rely on the internet for such confusing symptoms and comments. It is best to collect all the concern about your health, on a piece of paper, and share it with your health care provider.
