Right Wing politicians berated for fuelling tensions in Jerusalem

The now long standing tensions prevailing in Jerusalem between the Muslims and the Jews is taking a deeper turn with more tensions arising out of the same. Attacks by Hamas militants and Palestinians have increased.
The incidences revolve round the conflict over the holy site known to the Jews as Temple Mount and to the Muslims as Noble Sanctuary. Jordan’s Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh had said that the constant violation and encrocachments were taking away the rights of the people from worshipping freely and is sensitizing the Musliams across the world.

The administration of the Holy Site is run by the Waqf Islamic Trust, which is run by Jordan. The government allows Jewish extremists to be at the site but there is a ban on Jews to pray there. There does not seem to be any indications by the government to remove this ban from the Holy Site.
The PM Benjamin Netanyahu favours maintaining a status quo at the site. This age old conflict saw Israel gaining control of East Jerusalem and moving up to West Bank and Gaza. The struggle over the site will lead to a decision which will affect the traditional and religious aspect. But what needs to be seen is that it will also possibly help the Israeli’s to get direct access and control over the country.
