The Mumbai attack mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, has been detained for the second time in Pakistan. The court has also cancelled the government orders to keep him in jail even after getting a bail.
As the Islamabad High Court suspended his detention and ordered his release a new case was registered against him. This new case accuses him of kidnapping a man named Anwar. India had summoned Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit to protest against the court’s order that would allow Lakhvi to roam freely. Although Pakistan had assured India they would appeal against Lakhvi’s bail in the Supreme Court, but it has not happened yet.
Lakhvi has been in jail in Rawalpindi since 2009, but he was granted bail because the court said they did not have evidence against to prove his involvement in the worst terrorist attack on India ever. Lakhvi is one of the seven people on trial for the 26/11 attacks on Mumbai, but there have been no convictions so far. The Indian investigators have submitted heaps of evidences and data proving their involvement but it has had no effect on the Pakistani government.
