At least 16 civilians were killed and around 30 people have lost their lives when a suicide bomber blew herself at a crowded bus station in the northeast Nigerian city of Damaturu on Sunday, said the police, in a region which is often attacked by Islamist militants.
According to Adamu Muhammad who is a witness, he heard a loud noise of blast and the crowd at the Damaturu`s central motor park went down into panic.
The 30 civilians who were injured had been taken to the hospital Danladi Marcus.
According to a cab driver said by the phone, before the security officials could be alert, the suicide bomber entered the bus station and blow up an explosive device.
“It was an eyesore looking at the scene, which is littered with chopped flesh and battered bodies of victim,” said another witness, Hassan Umar.
No one claimed responsibility for this brutal attack. It has been assumed that it fits the pattern of violence of Boko Haram`s group.
The voting schedule in Nigeria has been postpone for at least six weeks as declared by the Nigeria`s electoral commission.
