Saudi Arabia Detained 93 Militants with Ties to the Islamic State

According to the spokesman for Saudi Arabia`s interior ministry, Mansour al Turki, at least 100 jihadists had been detained by the Saudi Arabia`s officials. Most of them were connected to the Islamic State group and had foiled several plots to carry out attacks, which includes the attack on the American embassy.

The arrests had taken place since December. At least 77 of those detained were Saudi nationals who aimed to plan for terror strikes.

In a statement by interior ministry,

“Activities are ongoing against the deviant group which seeks to undermine the security of this country. They are ceaselessly seeking to achieve this through their criminal plans.”

The arrest also include a cell of 65 people who were detained in March for being involved in a plan which included targeting residential compounds, prisons and security forces.

According to Nawaz al Enezi, ministry spokesman al Turki, a suspected IS operative was been detained by the police. The 29 year old militant was accused of putting to death two police officers. He was been found in a hideout 100 kilometers east of Riyadh. A reward of 267,000 dollars had been set by the interior ministry for information leading to his arrest.
