According to the reporters, it had been confirmed by Abuja – Senator Ali Ndume (APC – Borno South) that around 1000 women and children had been rescued by the military in the North East.
It was disclosed by Ndume at the time he was speaking with the newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to him, children and women were been rescued from the villages which were occupied by the Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State.
The senator stated that soon the activities of Boko Haram will become a thing of the past. He added that,
“What is remaining virtually is cleaning up the Sambisa base of the Boko Haram and then cleaning up the roads, access roads going to various villages that I understand have been planted and landmines.”
Most of the towns had been completely destructed, as per the senator. He told the reporters that his house has been completely burnt down.
It had been revealed that among the group of 500 women and girls rescued from the Boko Haram militants, 214 have been returned as pregnant. A woman had also revealed that how the Boko Haram insurgents had turned her into a sex machine. She was also forced to marry one of the fighters of Boko Haram.
