According to the officials, at least nine Afghan aid workers had been put to death by the gunmen during an overnight raid on their guest house in northern Afghanistan.
Those who were killed were the employees of People in Need (PIN), a Czech organization that has been delivering humanitarian aid to the remote communities in Afghanistan since 2001.
Taliban had been blamed by the Afghan government officials for the attack in Zari district of Balkh province, which is located about 80 km south of the provincial capital.
As said by a spokesman for the ministry of rural rehabilitation and development, Mohammad Daud Naemi, nine people had been shot which also includes a woman.
He added that the attack took place around 1:00 am (local time) on Tuesday, in which two guards, two drivers and fiver employees had lost their lives.
As per Ross Hollister, the group`s country director, the victims were put to death at the time when they were sleeping in their beds.
In a news report, it had been warned by the US University, that since the 2001 US led invasion, almost 100,000 people had lost their lives in Afghanistan.
