2 Men Detained For Planning Terror Attack against US Military Members in Britain

According to the reporters, two men had been charged for plotting an attack on American soldiers in Britain. The men wanted to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS).

According to ABC`S Jon Williams, Junead Ahmed Khan, 24 years old and his uncle, Shazib Ahmed Khan, 22 years old are said to be accused of planning to attack American military bases in Mildenhall and Lakenheath, which house a combined 10,000 American personnel. Bloomberg reported that to join ISIS they had been planning to travel to Syria.

Since their arrest on July 14, both the men are been held in the police custody in the U.K. Both of them are remanded in the custody to appear at the Old Bailey on 10 August.

Both of them had been charged for being involved in preparation with the intention to commit acts of terrorism, dating between 1 August 2014 and 10 May 2015, as they both appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court.

As said by Deborah Walsh, deputy head of counter terrorism at the CPS, “It is further alleged that Junead Khan was planning a terrorist attack on US military personnel in the UK and he had been charged with an additional terrorism offence to reflect this.”
