At Least 8 People Lost Their Lives in Gujarat Clashes, Army Deployed In Several Areas

According to the reporters, the Ahmedabad Police Commissioner had been asked by the Gujarat High Court to file a report by Friday, on the assault that had occurred in several parts of the state, following the brief detention of 22 year old Hardik Patel, who has been leading an agitation demanding quota to Patel community.

As per the security officials, riot hit areas of Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s home state Gujarat was being defending by the army on Thursday after the death toll rises to eight in two days of caste related violence.

The violence spread over after a young leader of the influential Patel clan who led a huge rally on Tuesday was detained by the police. The rally was held to demand more government jobs and college places for the members of his community.

The memory have revived the breakdown of law and order of the serious rioting in 2002 in which not lessĀ  than 1000 people had lost their lives, most of them were Muslims.

According to a senior police officer in the state capital Gandhinagar, six protestors and a police officer were put to death and also 18 others have been injured and are in critical condition.
