According to the reporters, not less than 16 people had been put to death by the Pakistani Taliban on early Friday, prompting a gun battle that left 13 assailants dead, as said by the army officials. The people were praying in a mosque inside an air force compound.
Also an army officer had lost his life in the attack that took place on the edges of this northern city, as said by Maj. Gen. Asim Bajwa, a spokesman for the security forces.
Around two dozen bodies were seen inside the mosque by the rescue workers who entered the mosque inside the Badaber air base, which gives training and residential facilities for the air force.
The responsibility for the attack had been claimed by the Pakistani Taliban, an umbrella group of militant organizations that has been the target of a Pakistani military operation for not less than a year.
It had not yet be clear whether the 16 people who had been put to death in the mosque at the Badaber air base in the north western city Of Peshawar were civilians or military.
According to an unidentified official, “All the terrorists were wearing explosives laden jacket and were armed with hand propelled grenades, mortars, AK-47 rifles.
