According to the reporters, not less than 18 people had lost their lives in two suicide car bomb attacks which targeted two mainly Shiite Muslim districts of Baghdad on Saturday, as per the police and medical sources said.
Also 60 others had been injured in the twin bomb blasts. The attack took place in mainly Shiite districts of Kadhimiya and Hurriya situated in northern Baghdad, as per the police.
The responsibility for the attacks had not been claimed by any of the group, but several previous attacks targeting the Iraqi security forces and the country`s Shiite majority had been claimed by the Islamic State group.
As reported by Xinhua, the first attack took place at the crowded entrance of the holy Shia district of Kadhmiyah in the northern Baghdad, as the suicide bomber exploded his explosives laden vehicle.
After sometime, another suicide bomber blew up his car bomb which was parked some 50 meres away from the site of the first blast.
Those who were injured were evacuated to the hospitals with the help of ambulances, police as well as civilian vehicles.
Many cars were damaged in the blasts while several had caught fire due to the blasts.
