According to the reporters, a village which is situated in Niger`s southern border area of Diffa had been attacked by the Boko Haram militants on Thursday. In this attack not less than 18 people had lost their lives, as said by the two security sources.
The extremists entered the village of Gogone on foot and started firing indiscriminately on residents, as per the sources. They were been pursued by the Niger troops.
As reported, this year, dozens of cross border strikes had been suffered by the Niger`s Diffa region by the Islamist militant group who has its stronghold in north east Nigeria just few kilometers away.
In a bid to boost the security, a state of emergency had been declared there. Marking the border with Nigeria, the attackers had often manages to flee across the River Komadouga.
According to the Central African leaders in regional bloc CEEAC said on Wednesday, 50 billion CFA Francs had been raised by it in order to help Nigeria`s neighbors fight the Islamist militant group.
The mayor of Bosso, Bako Mamadou told AFP, “The toll is 18 dead, 11 hurt, almost 100 homes burned down, in a village of Wogom late Wednesday.”
