The explosives had been detonated by the suicide bomber at the residential compound of Obaidullah Shinwari, who is the member of Nangarhar`s provincial council whose family is active in local and national politics.
The attack took place at the home of a tribal elder when the people had gathered to celebrate the release of his son from Taliban captivity, as said by the local officials.
The son was also among those killed, and at least 14 people including his father were been injured in the attack, as per to Attaullah Khogyani, a spokesman for the provincial governor.
The responsibility for the attack had not yet been claimed by any of the group. It had been denied by the Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid that the group was behind the deadly attack.
