At Least 15 People Lost Their Lives in an Attack on Iraqi Military Base

According to the reporters, not less than 15 members of the security forces had lost their lives, when the five suicide bombers had attacked on an military base which is located at north of Baghdad on Sunday. Also 22 others had been injured in the attack, said the security sources.

As reported, two of the bombers exploded their vehicle borne explosives at the western gate of Camp Speicher, a former US base outside the Sunni city of Tikrit.

Other three detonated themselves after they entered the section of the base where Iraqi police are being trained, as said by the police and military sources in the Salahuddin operations command.

In a statement distributed by supporters online, the responsibility for the blasts had been claimed by the Islamic State, the militant group controlling swathes of Iraq`s north and west.

According to the Iraq`s Defense Ministry, in response to the setbacks in Ramadi, the Islamic State had stepped up the suicide blasts. It said in a statement that the group had used 22 bombers in two recent failed attacks in Anbar where Ramadi is located. The military responded, putting to death not less than 42 militants including the bombers, said the military.
