3 More Thai Islands closed for tourists following damage to 80% coral reefs`

According to the reporters, tourist activities had been banned by the marine officials in Thailand at coral reefs near three islands off Phuket`s east coast so as to prevent further damage to corals at the popular four sites.

On these islands, shops and restaurants had also been break down, after the ban came in to effect on 24th May Tuesday.

All this came into action after the announcement that all the beaches and coral reefs around Koh Tachai Island in the Similan National Park off Phangnga province of Thailand will be closed to all the visitors for an indefinite period.

As per to the order of the marine officials, three more islands have adopted the policy of no tourists in a bid to save the coral reefs at Koh Khai Nok, Koh Khai Nui and Koh Khai Nai. These all are located a few kilometers from Phuket.

As informed by the department of marine and coastal resources in Thailand`s regional chief Watcharin Na Thalang to Phang Nga and Phuket tour operators and guides of ban, saying, “We want operators and guides active in Phang Nga and the surrounding areas to understand the rules and procedures in conducting a tour to prevent further damages to our marine natural resources and coastal areas.”
