According to the reporters, the British Prime minister David Cameron`s graciousness in defeat had been praised by the democrat party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva, which the Pheu Thai Party said should be an example to the military government if the draft constitution fails at the August 7 referendum.
Mr. Abhisit is said to be a close friend of Boris Johnson, former London Mayor, who was instrumental in the Leave campaign and a potential replacement for Mr. Cameron, pointed to the UK poll and as per to him, the Thai voters to take re sides in 7th August should be not forced.
According to him, the government must make it clear that it supporters or opponents of the draft charter are not been favored by it.
As said by a former Pheu Thai energy minister, Pichai Naripthapan, that Prime Minister Prayut Chan o cha should take note of the way the will of the people is respected by Mr. Cameron.
He added that, “The government, particularly the prime minister, should take lesson from David Cameron and resign if the draft constitution is shot down in the referendum.”
A member of Phue Thai`s economic team, Mr. Pichat said that the democracy must be restored to Thailand as soon as possible.
