Thailand putting efforts to be international corporate hub

According to the reporters, the world`s largest canned tuna powder and one of the Thailand`s fastest growing multinational companies, Thai Union Group, is soon going to set up an international trading center in Bangkok so as to help launch its emerging markets business unit, targeting the Middle East, China and the Association of South East Asian Nations.

As said by the Thai Union`s chief financial officer, Jeorg Ayrle, “We have products offering in Norway, our king Oscar brand products, and products offering in the U.S. and Canada with lobsters, and we will use Bangkok as a trading hub for all these products, distributing them to ASEAN markets and China.”

He added that for their canned seafood products, they will launch a regional brand in ASEAN. They have a team of marketing and supply chain so all that will be centered in Bangkok.

Following an unsuccessful bid launched in 2014 to purchase Bumble Bee Seafoods, Thai Union has been in the news recently for a global buying spree.

Thai company had alone this year acquired Le Pecheries de Chez Nous Canada, Rugen Fisch Germany and Avanti Frozen Foods India.

Topmost brands from the previous buyouts include John West, a major competitor in UK market for canned fish, and Norway`s Oscar, purchased in 2014.
